Life can change quickly, and adjusting to what comes next isn’t always easy. Valerie works with adults navigating major life transitions, loss, relationship changes, and other experiences that can leave you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. She has a particular interest in women’s mental health and supporting clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, creating a space where each person’s identity, experiences, and perspective are respected.
I became a therapist because I wanted to support people through the healing process and help them develop practical ways to navigate difficult experiences. I value being able to combine genuine human connection with evidence-based approaches that can help people create meaningful change in their lives.
My approach starts with meeting you where you are. You set the pace and decide what you want to work toward; my role is to help you better understand what may be getting in the way.
Together, we’ll identify patterns, explore barriers to change, and develop skills that can help you navigate difficult emotions and experiences differently. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate strategies from CBT and DBT alongside grounding and emotion-regulation techniques.
Authenticity is an important part of how I show up as a therapist. What you see is what you get. I aim to be honest and genuine while creating a respectful environment where you can feel comfortable being equally honest about what you’re experiencing.
Taking care of my own mind and body is an important part of staying grounded. I practice grounding exercises, work out regularly, and enjoy being part of a run/walk club. For me, maintaining balance means making space to care for the mind, body, and soul.
