Therapy can be a space to better understand yourself while also recognizing the relationships, environments, and systems that have shaped you. Darrion brings a warm, affirming, and collaborative style to therapy, helping clients make sense of complex patterns while building practical tools for everyday life.
I became a therapist because I’ve always valued being in dialogue with others. I believe meaningful conversations can create the trust and understanding we need to see ourselves, our experiences, and our relationships more clearly. I earned my degree in social work from Hunter College and have experience working in both community mental health and private practice settings, supporting people across a range of backgrounds, identities, and life experiences.
My style as a therapist is warm, affirming, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I practice from a strengths-based, Queer-affirming, and anti-oppressive perspective, which means I’m interested not only in what’s happening within you, but also in the larger context of your life. Our experiences don’t happen in isolation, and therapy can be a place to explore how relationships, identity, community, and broader social systems influence the way we understand ourselves and move through the world.
I’m especially interested in helping make things that feel complicated or difficult to name easier to understand. Together, we might notice recurring patterns, explore where they came from, and figure out what you want to do differently. At the same time, therapy with me doesn’t always have to be about digging deeper. Sometimes what you need are concrete tools to manage anxiety, executive functioning challenges, relationships, or the demands of everyday life.
Because of that, I don’t believe in taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Depending on your needs and goals, I draw from CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, somatic practices, and talk therapy. Some sessions may give you room to explore wherever your thoughts take you, while others may be more focused and practical. We’ll work together to figure out what is most useful to you.
Outside of work, community and connection are important parts of my life. I value staying connected to the communities I’m fortunate to be part of, both through collective involvement and individual relationships. I also enjoy staying physically active and recreational powerlifting.
